Book Description
A practical and highly-illustrated didactic guide to veterinary obstetrics. Providing a
clear description of normal birth, together with criteria for deciding what is
abnormal. The aim is to provide good practical advice and guidelines about how to
proceed with obstetrical problems in the domestic species encountered in both pet and
farm animal practice.
To describe clearly normal birth in these species so that the new graduate who may
not have witnessed birth knows what to expect and how to decide the difference
between normal and abnormal. To describe the causes of dystocia encountered in
the field in each species and to discuss diagnosis, decision making and treatment
including immediate care of the mother and offspring after delivery.
Synopsis
This guide to veterinary obstetrics provides a clear description of normal birth,
together with criteria for deciding what is abnormal. For each species, it describes
the causes of dystocia, and covers diagnosis, decision-making and treatments,
including immediate care of the mother animal and offspring after delivery. The book also
includes a chapter on neonatology. Veterinarians, dog & cat breeders and farm managers will all
find it very helpful. Superbly illustrated by John Fuller, formerly of the Cambridge veterinary school.
