The victims infected at the time of delivery and below 3~5 years old usually become carriers. The adult victims rarely become carriers. The carriers with or without acute episode of illness become chronic hepatitis and progress to cirrhosis and furthermore to carcinoma of the liver (Hepatocellular carcinoma). |
